BOSTON - THE WANG

March 29, 2008 - I guess I shold have known... This evening my family made a certain performance at The Wang Center an unforgetable evening. 15 minutes before curtain my stage manager came to me asking how many people I had in the audience.... I said about 80. He continued to tell me that the ushers were collecting signs and such from a group of people all with stickers on their chests that read "Matt David Fan Club". The evening was amazing. I have the most wonderful family a guy could ask for. After some of the cast members met some family members, they quickly realized where I get my "character" from. Take a look at the pictures below. The pictures explain everything. Also, in Boston, I was able to see my good friend Casey and her baby Issy (pic below) and Dan and Rob my bestest friends came up from NY for the weekend. The last few pictures are of backstage... to give everyone a feel of what it looks like back there... then of course the very last picture is of the bows.

Thank you so much to my friends and family for believing in my dream. It is a tough one, but it is exactly where I want to be. Love you all.

WASHINGTON AND UPDATE

March 2008 - Sorry to all that I have not been around for a while. I am not really a picture taking person so I have had no pictures to post. Sunny's mom, Gloria, was wondering the other day why I have not ... so this one is for you Gloria. Happy reading!

Things are well here. I am in the airport right now waiting for our flight from Charlotte, NC to Philly. This weekend my good friends Joe, Kate, Dunc, Mer and Chis are coming to see me. I am so excited. THis is really a project to be proud about. Mer and Dunc are bringing their newborn, Eileen!

Next week is going to be the week I have been looking for since day one. Boston! The Wang Center. I used to see shows are the Wang as a child and hope to someday play that house. Here it is about to happen. Expect many pictures! Ma and Pa are bring about 65 people and to the Saturday evening show. They have even chartered a bus! It is probably going to be the best night of my life. Something I have waited for for so long!!!!

While we were in DC, I did not see too many of the sites, as I have seen them all before. What I did do is treck deep into the backstreets of Georgetown to find the steps that were in the movie The Exorcist. Remember the part in the movie where the girl throws the priest out the window - falling to his death? Below are the pictures of the steps. When others were out seeing The Lincoln Memorial, I was off finding these stairs.... random I know.

We did get to see the White House many times as it was on the way to the theater. Some of us even got to see our asshole president. Notice I did not capitalized the word president.

I was able to see some family when I was there. Caught up with Auntie nan and her new grandchildren. They are so cute. Was able to see Kris and Val too!

Things are just wonderful. Looking forward to being back in the city for the summer to have fun, hit the gym, hit the dance classes, have a few margiritas at Blockheads and look for my next job.... hopefully on Broadway!

Oh, there was a nice write up about me in the Worcester T&G... take a look... love you all.... matt

MARDI GRAS 2008! NEW ORLEANS

On January 31, 2008, eight of us after our shoe in Baton Rouge, LA headed to Mardi Gras in New Orleans. It goes without saying that we has the time of our lives. We were out all night on Bourdon Street. The next morning we had brunch back in the French Quarter befoew drinving to the 9th Ward where Katrina hit the hardest. To this day there are people still living in campers and houses that have not been re-built. We drove thru some streets that seemed like ghost towns.
Pics below: 1. All of us on the terrace of The Parade Club 2. Lynn and Abby getting our first drink of the night 3. Lynn and Abby again - Abby not looking at the camera as she was too busy looking at the naked male stripper in front of her. 4. French Quarter next day. 5. 9th Ward

I'm Back!

Tuesday, January 22, 2008 - Athens, Georgia

Hello all, sorry I have been out of the loop. It has been a crasy few weeks and I am just now getting to this entry.

Things are well here. We have hit a point in the tour where we are all out sick, understudies are going on on a regular basis. January (and probably February) will be quite a test.

We started the new year with three weeks worth of sit-downs. Arizona, Arkansas and Alabama. We had plenty of time to rest. We are now back to the bus doing many one nighters... and getting sick. The bus air just circulates - allowing one, then all to get ill.

Take a look at the pics below. I think the first one is cute. All the girls waiting for our flight to Alabama... all on their laptops. The rest are pictures of backstage.... one of the prop boxes, the wig room, dressing room and Pat in her wig and bathrob eating lunch. I love that picture.

Well, feel free to email me at mattdavidnyc@aol.com. Sorry if I have been a little out of the loop. Be home for the summer!!!!!!!!!!!!! Love you all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Fabulous FOX THEATRE, St Louis

November 21, 2007 - For the next week, we have the priviledge to perform in one of the most amazing venues I have ever seen - The Fox Theater in St. Louis. Today we performed for about 5000 people in the 5500 seat house. I can not explain the feeling I get when I take my bow in front of 5000 people looking out at this house.

Backstage, all over every inch of wall space are autographs of people who have performed here... See below... Bob Hope and Sammy Davis Jr to name a few. After our last show, my name will appear of these walls to last as long as the theater. Amazing!

As I play about 8 characters, today I took a picture in my cop uniform. It is so hot when I wear it onstage, so when I am in the wings, I tend to leave it open.

This job has been amazing. I count almost everyday me saying how much I love my life. And altho it gets to be like any other job (as I lie on my bed in my hotel right now not wanting to go out in the rain this evening to "go to work") very few people have the opportunity to do what they love to do and have people acknowledge their work by applauding at the end of the evening. I am so fortunate for what I am doing and hope to do forever. There is no other business I want to be in than show business.
